Another fight, another victory for Jesus Arechiga.
She was undefeated last Friday night, defeating goalkeeper Florentino Perez by unanimous decision at Gimnasio German Ever in Arechiga’s hometown of Mazatlan. Mexico.
Scores were 100-92, 99-93 and 98-94 for Arechiga, who moved to 18-0, 14 knockouts.
The short Perez was game, but the more experienced Arechiga outplayed Perez throughout the fight. As the fight progressed, Perez fought more and more in a live stance while Arechiga boxed more.
After the fight, Arechiga was revealed to be injured, which led to more fighting from the outside. Under the circumstances, Hector Zapari, Jr. he was satisfied with Arechiga’s work.
“Florentino Perez was a strong fighter who played and took punches well, but he fought dirty because he led himself and will hold more as the fight continues,” said Zapari, who is Arechiga’s manager and trainer, told BoxingScene Wednesday. “(Perez) was in survival mode and tired at the end of the fight.
“Jesus hurt his hand in the fifth round when he threw a hook to the body. He is the saboteur because he wants to entertain the fans. It is the great work of Jesus.”
The win over Perez comes almost five months after the 22-year-old stopped veteran striker David Reyes Cota in the fourth round. In his previous fight, Arechiga stopped Jose Valdes Bernal, also in the fourth round.
Perez, who lives in Monterrey, Mexico, is down to 14-8-2, 9 KOs. He has now lost his last four fights, including losses to Eduardo Baez, Alan Picasso, and, most recently, Luis Nunez.
